- Pros & Cons of Cats
Watch this next video at 2x speed to quickly learn about having a cat in your home. There are numerous benefits, cats can even good for your mental health. They do have some cons as well, and you should be able to cope with them by being tolerant, understanding, compassionate, and researching how to mitigate annoyances.
2. 10 Things I Wish I Knew
Cats are wonderful companions, but like all animals, they come with natural behaviors—scratching, shedding, and occasionally missing the litter box. It's the owner's responsibility to clean up daily and address these behaviors. With a little research and effort, many of these challenges can be managed. Before getting a kitten/cat, make sure you're prepared for the commitment. Returning a kitten should never be the solution.
3. Siberian Specifics
Siberian cats are different in looks and behavior from other types of cats. Please click on the links in this section to learn about Siberians. They have long fur coats and require daily brushing in some seasons. They do shed sometimes. This increases the need to vacuum or dust more frequently.
Magic Siberians specializes in Neva Masquerade Siberians.
4. Cat Allergies
While Siberian cats are hypoallergenic, Magic Siberians cannot guarantee the absence of allergens. If you have known cat allergies, we highly recommend allergy testing before purchasing a kitten. Future kitten owners are encouraged to order an allergy test or a fur sample from us —ideally at the same time as joining the waitlist—to check their sensitivity from home. It's best to complete this testing months ahead of your kitten’s pickup date. We also offer in-person visits where you can pet an adult Siberian to further test allergies. If you do find you have an allergic reaction through the testing, your waitlist deposit is refundable.
Please remember, it's the buyer’s responsibility to perform due diligence, including allergy testing and consulting with a healthcare provider, to fully understand any potential risks before bringing your kitten home. Returning a kitten is not a solution.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the realities of cat ownership!
